POLICY STATEMENT
It is the policy of Highland Builders & Constructors to provide a safe environment to work for their employees, including Sub-contractor employees employed on its project and to conduct all operations and to handle & dispose all materials safely and without creating unacceptable health, environmental or safety risk.
The company is doing following tasks to ensure safety of not only its’ employees but also of the sub-contractors’:
- Developing programs to educate employees about the construction operation related health and safety risks.
- Adopting appropriate industry or corporate standards where adequate laws or regulations do not exist.
- Identifying and controlling public health, environmental and safety hazards generating from its operations.
- Conducting accident prevention, occupational health and pollution control and assurance programs to safeguard employees and the public from injuries or health hazards, to protect the company's assets and continuity of operations, and to protect the environment.
- Ensure that periodic reviews are made to monitor strict compliance by the office and each project.
- Conduct periodic audits to provide feedback and assurance, and to maximize performance and control loss.
- Encouraging employees to report suspected or potential health, environmental or safety risk to appropriate personnel within the company to enable the company to access and respond to such risks.
- Requiring all subcontractors not having an adequate or acceptable safety program to adopt and adhere to the company policy.
- Making managers, supervisors and lead technical assistants accountable for HSE management effort towards elimination of causes that might lead to accident.
- Ensuring that each leader of an operation whether at the site or office, is directly responsible for the safety of all human and other resources under his charge.
For Sustainability of Environment:
We recognize that as a responsible company we have a duty to conduct our operations in a manner that will not harm or detriment future generations. As part of our commitment to sustainable construction we will consider the sustainability implications of building materials, construction services and building operations for each project we undertake. We will undertake all construction operations in line with the following targets:
- We will reduce our consumption of materials, re-use materials where possible and finally recycle materials
- We adopt whole life costing in delivering value for money in our purchasing decisions, including running and disposal costs, as well as the initial purchase price.
- We will minimize carbon emissions during construction works.
